The ligands have been synthesized in high yields starting from 1,2‐dibromo‐1,2‐bis(dimethylamino)diborane(4) upon reaction with Na[C5H5] and Li[C13H9], respectively. All compounds were fully characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and, for selected examples, by X‐ray analysis.

The used finite element models are generated with computed tomography (CT) images as a basis. Three-dimensional brick elements of cubic shape are used. The material properties of each element are thereby defined based on corresponding pixels in computed tomography images. The proposed analysis with mapping of material properties on a regular finite element mesh is first validated on simple two dimensional models of regular geometries. The obtained results are compared to highly accurate reference solutions and analytical predictions. Subsequently, the FEM thermal analysis of closed cell Alporas J aluminium foam and open cell M-Pore J aluminium sponge is carried out determining the effective thermal conductivities of these materials in three perpendicular directions in order to investigate the anisotropic properties of both structures. The variability in the material volume (due to meso-inhomogeneities) has been inspected by computing different sub-volumes of the specimens. Fig. 8. Effective thermal conductivity of Alporas J aluminium foam. Abb. 8. Effektive thermische Leitfähigkeit von Alporas J Aluminiumschaum.

Therefore, the geometry of this composite material is discretised and finite element analysis is performed. Furthermore, the thermal conductivity is estimated using Misnar's analytical model. Additionally, the Transient Plane Source method (TPS) is applied in order to perform thermal measurements on experimental samples. The findings of these approaches are compared and a good agreement is observed.

In the scope of this study, adhesively bonded metallic hollow sphere structures (MHSS) fully embedded within the adhesive matrix are considered with aim to determine their macroscopic behavior under uniaxial impact loading conditions by means of parametric computational ...

The assumptions and simplifications of classical evaluation procedures may result in a remarkable error depending on the investigated material combination. This work proposes a new evaluation procedure for the butt-joint test of adhesive technology. The main idea is to determine the deformed shape of the adhesive layer and to relate the deformation, i.e. contraction and elongation, to a unique set of Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio. A numerical parameter study for different combinations of adherend/adhesive materials and butt-joint geometries has been performed to investigate the influence of these parameters on the adhesive deformation. Comprehensive diagrams are derived which relate the deformation of the adhesive layer to the complete set of linear elastic constants. r

The intermediate layer is assumed to be of infinitesimal thickness and is modelled by non-linear transmission conditions which incorporate the elasto-plastic material behaviour of the layer. FEM analysis of a bimaterial structure with such an imperfect elasto-plastic interface shows the efficiency of the approach and illustrates some restrictions of its application.

A large tilt angle results in better access to the metal centre and can be achieved by incorporation of a short and rigid ansa bridge. Because of the small size of the boron atom and its three-fold coordination, an aminoboranediyl bridge can enhance the stereoselectivity of the resulting polymers. Furthermore, the Lewis acidic boron atom lowers the electron density at the central metal, which also improves the catalytic activity and performance.

A key intermediate was the chiral, N-Boc-protected ketone (1R,2S,6S,7R)-4-azatricyclo[5.2.1.0 2,6 ]decan-8-one, available from inexpensive endo-carbic anhydride in five steps and 47% yield. The rigid scaffold makes these amino acid derivatives promising candidates for β-turn-inducing building blocks in peptidomimetics and for chiral auxiliaries in asymmetric organocatalysis.
