Grouping Nearby Locations for Better Visibility #
When displaying a large number of store or product locations on the map, individual markers can quickly become overwhelming, especially when those locations are densely packed in a specific area.
The Map Cluster feature in WP Maps helps solve this problem by giving you control over how markers are displayed using clustering logic.
This feature is essential for users who have multiple stores in close proximity, as it improves both map clarity and user experience.
What These Options Do #
The Map Cluster section provides two primary options:
1. Show Markers in Groups #
When this option is enabled, WP Maps will automatically group nearby store markers into a cluster bubble.
This bubble typically shows a number (e.g., “5”) representing how many stores are located in that area.
Users can then zoom in to see individual locations.
2. Display Individual Markers #
This option disables clustering and ensures that every store or product location is shown as a separate marker, regardless of how close they are to each other.
It’s more suitable for maps with fewer markers or when you want users to see all stores without needing to zoom in.

Benefits of Using Map Clustering #
- Reduces visual clutter on the map when many locations are close together.
- Improves loading performance on maps with hundreds of locations.
- Makes it easier for users to navigate and explore store locations.
- Clustering is dynamic, it adjusts as users zoom or pan across the map.
How to Configure #
- Log in to your WP Maps account and click on the “Widgets” tab.
- Click on “ Install Widget”
- Locate the Map Cluster section in the “Map Configuration” section.
- Choose one of the following:
- Show Markers in Groups for clustering
- Display Individual Markers for separate marker visibility
- Save your settings and refresh your frontend map to see the effect.
