PayPal Payments — Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a question about PayPal payments in WPForms? See the list below for our most frequently asked questions. If your question is not listed here, then please contact us.

Do I need a paid plan to accept PayPal payments?

No. PayPal payments are available to all WPForms users, including those on the free plugin. Just update to the latest version of WPForms, connect your PayPal account, and you’re ready to start accepting payments.

What payment methods can my customers use?

Through the PayPal integration, your customers can pay with PayPal, credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Maestro, Discover), Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo (US only), Pay Later, Fastlane, and regional payment methods like iDEAL, Bancontact, and BLIK. Available methods depend on the customer’s location and device.

Can I use PayPal for subscriptions and recurring payments?

Yes. You can set up recurring subscriptions for memberships, donations, service contracts, and more. Customize the name of your plan and the time interval between billing dates.

Will I be charged for using PayPal on my forms?

PayPal’s standard processing fees apply to all transactions. On the free version of WPForms, there is also a small 3% transaction fee. Upgrading to a WPForms Pro or Elite plan removes the 3% fee entirely, so you only pay PayPal’s standard fees.

Does WPForms store users’ payment data?

Payment details are sent straight to PayPal to protect both you and your users from the risks of storing credit card details on your website. For credit card purchases, entries will only show the last 4 digits of the credit card.

What is Pay Later and how does it work?

Pay Later lets your customers split their purchase into installments over time. You receive the full payment upfront from PayPal — there’s no risk to you. It’s available for one-time payments and can help increase conversions on higher-priced items.

What is Fastlane?

Fastlane is PayPal’s accelerated checkout experience. When a returning PayPal user reaches your payment form, their details are automatically filled in so they can complete checkout in seconds.

Do I need coding skills to set up PayPal payments?

Not at all. Connect your PayPal account, drag the PayPal field into your form, and you’re live. The entire setup is no-code and takes just a few minutes.
