Export Your Custom Astra Template

The Astra Template Exporter gives you a fast and simple way to turn your existing Astra website design into a reusable design template. You can reuse the design for client work or publish it as a digital download.

This guide walks you through the full process of exporting your custom-built site as a Child Theme Package ZIP.

Before you start

Make sure you have the following installed on the site you want to export:

• Astra Theme
• Astra Template Exporter plugin (included in the Business Toolkit plan)

Step 1: Open the Astra Template Exporter

1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard
2. Go to the Astra Template Exporter screen

Step 2: Configure Child Theme Settings

Before you generate the export, configure the child theme settings that will be included in the package.

Typical child theme settings to review:

• Child theme name and slug
• Theme author and URL
• Theme Screenshot
• Theme version

Notes:

• Keep the child theme name and slug unique to avoid conflicts during import.

Step 3: Configure Template Details

Enter the basic information that will appear in Starter Templates onboarding when someone imports your template:

• Template name
• Agency/Brand Name, Short Description, and brand logo
• Template Preview/Thumbnail
  

This helps users recognize and select your design when importing.

Step 4: Select the Required Plugins for Template Design

Select the plugins used to make this template design.

Step 5: Generate the Export File

Click the Export button. The plugin will package everything into a Child Theme ZIP file.

This file includes:

• Astra customizer settings
• Layout configurations
• Plugin styling and design options
• Template metadata and preview information

Step 6: Download the ZIP

Once the export is complete, download the ZIP file to your computer.
This file is now ready to import on a new website.

You can store this template for reuse, deliver it to clients, or upload it as a product to your online store.
