thank you. I’m only testing on a mate’s wordpress atm. he has a backup environment (I don’t !!)

it’s processing one image per 30 seconds on a decent server. for 20000+images it is going to take forever including updating blank ALT TAGs in over 5000 posts. Plus some of the test we’ve done seem to stop after 50 or so images.

too much to troubleshoot/fine tune, so we’ll put on the back burner for now

I’ll keep an eye out for when you have command line option (I assume i can then set high priorities for overnight jobs)

so it will take a day to run through probably.

if i close the browser will the job continue (i assume not)

if i leave my pc surely it will go into sleep mode and the job will stop

can i monitor progress on cpanel?

im looking for guidelines on how todo 20000 images the first time with no issues. i dont care how long it takes i jsut want it to work with no manual interference for me

i will set it to also update posts/pages which i imagine adds quite an overhead

yes the bulk offload does much of the job. however it creates other problems

i now have images on cloudflare that did not respect the orientation i had on wordpress. ie iuplaoded to wordpress last year. i rotated by 90 degrees soon after. i offloaded yesterday but the original orientation is retained.

as you’ve said, if i rotate the image now on wordpress you dont recognise that. so i have mis-orientatted images on cloudflare

i now have to identify potentially hundreds of them whch are often shown on more than one post. i then have to upload a new image, ‘correctly’ orientated and raplce all instances with the new images.

this is a major task

the issue of rotating images isbecoming more commonplace because iphone can get such good quality. people often hold iphones the ‘wrong’ way.

I don’t want to waste time on this and I’m pretty sure that Jetpack has been around longer than you guys and has more resources to hand. that said , i know it doesn’t prove they are right and you are wrong. but i just know they are going to say they are right and you are wrong .

FWIW: I get specifically high views/hits on certian post which i suspect might be the subject of hacking attacks on my site. jetpack might have a way to disregard such traffic that you lack.

It does seem to be limited to Firefox usage. so its nothing to do with my connection, my server (php), my pc, or anythign like that. it just seems to be firefox – annoying as that’s the one i use.
