In reply to: Worpress URL and Website URL fields are gray out@bizi5 In the guide that @t-p linked, besides the method of using the “…define…” variable in the wp-config.php file (i.e. that @joyously referred to), there is an/the alternate method of updating the URLs in the database instead.
I.e. see the section of the same guide called “Changing the URL directly in the database”
Backup often, and happy coding!

In reply to: Really Simple SSL helped but still have problemsHowdy all,
Also, a tool like “whynopadlock.com” can point out where (which files) are specifically being referenced via non-https urls. For example running a report on the blog in question:
“…Mixed Content – Errors…
…Hard Failure … A script with an insecure url of “http://cdn.widgetserver.com/syndication/subscriber/InsertWidget.js” was loaded on line: 716 of https://accidentalamazon.com/blog/. …
…Soft Failure … An image with an insecure url of “http://accidentalamazon.com/design/background2017.jpg” was loaded on line: 548 of https://accidentalamazon.com/blog/. …”So (perhaps in conjunction with find & replace tools mentioned already) you could run the report, figure out how to clear up the Mixed Content errors from the report, then repeat until all are taken care of.

In reply to: Contributor/author URL SlugHi – thank you for writing the w.org forums.
It might be accomplished by your site’s web developer (or you in that role) by coding/developing custom rules using WP “Rewrite API” i.e.:

In reply to: Homepage logs user outHi- thank you for writing the w.org forums.
Ususally in WordPress and in WooCommerce, for example with the Twenty Seventeen theme or the Storefront theme, the wpadminbar at the top will show on the front end. (i.e. on the “Visit Site” and “Visit Store” pages)
If you try temporarily switching to either of these two themes, then does the wpadminbar show as expected on the front end pages?

Hi and thanks for writing the w.org forums. We saw from the other thread that the WooCommerce plugin support folks diagnosed this as “… it’s related to core WordPress users…” and advised you to post here in the Fixing WordPress forum.
Some initial questions:
1.)
What is the site’s URL? (to allow troubleshooting/reproducing the symptom as apt)2.)
If you temporarily disable all plugins and switch to the default theme, then what is the result (i.e especially, then does the symptom temporarily disappear?)- This reply was modified 7 years, 3 months ago by mjassen (mjjojo).

@wesolydzik – Hi – If the above conversation solves your concern, then great, if not, then it’s recommended to start your own support thread in order to try to get a conversation dedicated to your specific concern.

In reply to: How to hardcode coupon like form in checkoutHi
Thank you for writing the w.org forums.
This is the “Developing with WordPress” sub-forum — recommended is posting this question in the WooCommerce sub-forum i.e.:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce
(Scroll down to the “Create a new topic” area at the bottom)Thank you for writing the w.org forums.
For short/immediate term a workaround is to update manually, i.e. guide here:
“Manual Update”
https://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress#Manual_UpdateAs for the update method being used when the symptom happens — what are some steps to replicate this?
For example which screen/window/app to start on, and then what keyboard strokes (or mouse-clicks or screen-taps) to perform, in order to reliably reproduce the symptom? (with a screenshot as apt)
Also, unfortunately from the error message alone I don’t initially know whether the symptom is caused more by WordPress or more by something else in the environment.
Have you considered copying this WordPress installation to a different server (if its an option) and running the update there, to see whether the environment/server is a factor? Will you write us back afterwards to let us know how it goes?

In reply to: ‘Page Builder’ – ‘Beaver Builder’Thank you for writing the wordpress.org forums.
It sounds like something changed, maybe an auto-update of some kind introduced a conflict somewhere — don’t want to speculate too much initially though.
Some suggestions are:
– First creating a backup of the current state of the installation before any further changes are made (or happen)
– Consider temporarily disabling all 3rd party themes and plugins, then re-enabling one-by-one to pinpoint any possible conflict.
– Consider updating all software to the latest versions
– If you have a previous backup of the installation in a last known working state, consider restoring from that backupOne thing I can’t explain is why a/the label would change from “Page Builder” to “Beaver Builder” — perhaps consider posting on the Beaver Builder plugin’s sub-forum with Beaver Builder -specific questions? (i.e. https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/beaver-builder-lite-version —> “Create a new topic” area at the bottom)

Hi @npdais2
Thank you for replying.
That error message string “You need a higher level of permission” doesn’t come from the WordPress Core.
Thus we deduce it comes from a 3rd party plugin, 3rd party theme, or other customization of WordPress.
If it could be found from *which/where* this error message is coming, then it might be easier to tell a good next step.
Can you share what plugins, and what theme, this site is using? (like a list)
Also, can you shared exact steps-to-reproduce that error message string? (e.g. which screen to start on, and then where to click/tap on the screen, in order to reliably reproduce the error message string)(and also a screenshot of the error message string, as apt)?
Hi @npdais2
Thank you for writing the w.org forums.
For a message like “You need a higher level of permission” it sounds like it may not be coming from WordPress core functionality.
This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
Will you write us back afterwards to let us know how you go?
Thank you for writing the w.org forums.
It looks in general like the install process is complaining that it can’t find some expected prerequisites/elements.
A good next step might be to consult the theme documentation or contact the theme support channel (if it covers this)
Unfortunately, participants here on the w.org support forums may be limited to support this as it is a 3rd party theme and so one reason is forum participants may not have access to this theme.
Will you write us back afterwards to let us know how you go?
