I did a further investigation on the locale subject and it seems that el is the right locale for Greek in WordPress.
It wasn’t obvious at first, because, for the most part, every other system in the world uses el_GR for Greek – Greece: Linux @ CERN, Oracle, IBM. …
The Greek language is also spoken in Cyprus, but, in essence, the difference is that of English UK and English US.. Basically none.
It also seems that el_GR is the same as el_CY as far as wordpress localization.
By the way, thanks again for a real “life saver” plugin.! 🙂

My mod is to create a custom widget container – positioned wherever suits my needs – and place the Polylang widget there:
Then, as mentioned by Chouby, styling the flags is much easier, cause they’ re already positioned within the page structure.
