Well, interestingly enough, the Comments Form block has now started to work on my Homepage – so it would appear that someone in WordPress has squashed the bug… Thank you, whoever you are…
You can ask the Chatbot to connect you with a human support person and get your case escalated. That’s what I did.
After receiving no reply from Support, I tried again and this time a Support person confirmed that there is indeed a bug. It has been escalated within WordPress, but no timescale for a resolution (if any) was given. Frankly, I doubt whether it will ever get fixed, we’ll just have to live with it.
Thanks for your reply. Frankly, I don’t understand this – I am using the standard Comment form on both my HomePage template and in the Single Post template; nothing is “custom”. And my site is hosted on WordPress.com and I can’t use plugins.
Still crickets from Support, so no help forthcoming from them at the moment…
