After further testing, it seems the profile discount only applies to child categories but not applying to anything under parent categories when only specifying the parent category in the profile discount tab.

For example, We have “Electronic” as a parent category, but no products actually has this category checked out in the product pages, instead, there are child categories under the “Electronic” parent category like “USB Cables”, then “USB-C” as another child, but when I simply enter “Electronic” in the profile discount tab, I expect the discount percentage to be applied on all child categories under “Electronic”. Now instead to make it work, I have to manually add all child categories (Ex.: “USB-C”) in the profile discount tab, which is definitely not ideal given the huge amount of child categories that are placed under “Electronic”. It would be much appreciated to have this fixed so that we only have to list one parent category (Electronic) then have the percentage discount applied to all child categories under this category.
