Hi Ramon,
If you haven’t already, try updating Simply Static to the most recent version. Several people seemed to be having trouble with the temp files location in Simply Static, so I updated it to a new location (a directory within the Simply Static plugin) as of v2.0.4.
Updating Simply Static should automatically adjust your temporary files directory, but if it doesn’t, go to Settings->Advanced, and then copy and paste the Default value into the text field and hit Save.
Hopefully that helps. If you continue to run into issues let me know.

ScottHi aviboy2006,
There’s not presently a way to intentionally save off the content of a 404 page. You’ll have to do that by hand for now. It’s on our todo list to add that though!

ScottHi umadkhan90,
Can you try v2.0.7+ of Simply Static and see if that works any better for you?

Hi guys,
I know I’m long overdue on this, but I introduced a fix for this in v2.0.7. Thank you for the solution, xi80r6!

ScottThanks for the review, lovingboth!
I’ve adjusted the location of the temporary files directory. Hopefully the new location works for most people and they won’t need to adjust it.

In reply to: [Simply Static - The Static Site Generator] Best Plugin in WordPressThanks for the review, miwebdesigns! I’m glad to hear that Simply Static is making your site faster and more secure 🙂

ScottSimply Static requires PHP 5.3. Given the error message you’re getting it seems like you’re running 5.2 or below. I’d check with your webhost.

In reply to: [Simply Static - The Static Site Generator] Zip file is 0 KB w/download linkHi wesdluke,
Sorry for the trouble. If you get a chance, try v2.0.5+ of Simply Static. I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue you’re running into, but I believe I’ve got a fix for it.

ScottHi Steve!
I just heard back from Flywheel Support. They can enable the index.html file for your site. Just get in touch with them and they’ll get that set up for you.

In reply to: [Simply Static - The Static Site Generator] only index.html generatedHi davidak,
I just noticed that it redirected from:
http://davidak.de/personen/
to:
https://www.davidak.de/personen/So, not just http to https, but davidak.de to http://www.davidak.de (w/ www) as well. Simply Static presently treats non-www and www as different domains, so that’s causing your issue. If possible, for a short-term fix, I’d try switching your WordPress site to include the www, or switch the redirect to not include the www.
For a long-term fix I’ll add a note to our development board to have Simply Static ignore transitions between www and non-www, similar to how it does for http to https.

In reply to: [Simply Static - The Static Site Generator] zip file got hugeHi auntiem,
Have you upgraded Simply Static recently? I’d take a look at Settings->Include/Exclude. My guess is that you’re including
/wp-content/uploads/and you might not want to. It’s a good default for most people, but sometimes it ends up including more images than people would like.Best,
ScottHi Steve,
That’s a strange issue! I’ve emailed Flywheel to see if there’s a reason why they do that. Unfortunately there’s presently no way for Simply Static to save that file as an index.php. You could just manually rename it, of course, but I’m sure you’re hoping to not have to do that every time.
If you don’t mind my asking, why are you using Simply Static with Flywheel? Flywheel has security tools and caching built in, and they remove malware for free. Don’t get me wrong — I’m glad you’re using Simply Static! I’m just wondering why you chose to use it. I love learning about new use cases that I hadn’t thought of.

ScottP.S. I love your site (http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/)! The site is very nicely put together, and I spent entirely too much time clicking around looking at all of the different options for tiny houses.
Hmm, interesting. Thanks for reporting this issue and your fix for it, barbaluc.
If you have a moment, I’d love to learn more about what you mean when you said “my /etc/hosts didn’t have the good rights”. What was the issue and what did you fix there?

In reply to: [Simply Static - The Static Site Generator] Azure Deployment & CDN questionHi partiallypro,
Unfortunately there’s presently no way to FTP files when Simply Static is done running, you’d have to manually transfer files over. It’s a suggestion I’ve gotten a lot though, and I do plan to offer something eventually.
As far as using a CDN for image assets, you’d probably need to use another plugin to set that up. Here are a couple of options — I haven’t used either one of them, but it might help point you in the right direction:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/cdn-enabler/ (free)
https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-offload-s3/ (paid)I hope that helps!

Scott
