Yes, it was a plugin. On deactivating my Wordfence security plugin, the profile page is now loading completely. Now this is a plugin I have to keep, so I’ll appreciate it if you have any suggestions as to what might cause the conflict (both plugins have coexisted on my site for a long time without problems) and possible workaround.
