Hey guys just installed the wpDataTables Plugin “in cowork” with Forminator to document some data.
One problem is still there, is there a possibility to sort the Data Collumn from the newest date to the oldest date? (Automatic) (Not with the manual sorting option)
Hello, Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologize for the delayed response as we have been experiencing an unusually high number of tickets. I am sorry that it has taken longer than usual to respond to your concern and your patience is highly appreciated.
Yes. If this is set to a date-type column – you can set it to sort the table on load and the order as descending.
Here are the detailed steps. Please go into this column’s settings, first make sure the Data type is set to “date”. Then, go into the sorting settings – Check the option “Use as default sorting column”.
And lastly, set the order as “descending”, that’s it.
Now it should be sorting the table on load from the newest date to the oldest. The same principle can be applied to both free and premium versions.
Let us know if you encounter any issues with this method.

@wpdatatables First of all, thanks for your response. In the first few days it works completely fine but the last days there are some weird sorting of the data. The Date is correct but the Time is some buggy? Is there a way to fix it?
I tried to use the same “Rule” for sorting at the time but then the table disorder the data from the date column.
Hello, My sincere apologies for the long wait. We had an issue with replying to messages on the Forum because we needed to change our Support setup. The issue has been resolved, so it should not happen again.
In regards to this new sorting issue you described, it seems you are trying to sort the table by more than one column on load, in other words you want the table to sort by Date, but also by Time column?
We don’t have a built-in solution for sorting a table by two columns simultaneously, like “primary + secondary sorting,” but a custom workaround can be created via an SQL Query table.
Please note, that the SQL tables are not included with the free Plugin version, so we can’t discuss any more details about that workaround here, this Forum is only for the free version features/options.
If you wish, our premium Support can share the detailed workaround for “sort by first, then another column” via a custom SQL Query. If you can open a pre-purchase category ticket on our main Support here, it won’t ask you for a licence key.
