My site runs on WPBakery Page Builder, a.k.a Visual Composer, but when answering questions, excerpts appear with the prefix [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text], which implies that shortcodes aren’t being processed.

I’ve confirmed this happens on line 58 of qcld-wpwbot-search.php, which is

    $content_filtered = apply_filters( 'the_content', $post_obj->post_content );

Passing the filtered or unfiltered content through do_shortcode() makes no difference. Is it possible that the shortcodes aren’t defined at that stage yet? Maybe WPBakery isn’t loaded?

    Hi,

We have released a new version. Can you please upgrade and check again?

    Thank you!

Thank you for this. I’ve applied this update, and shortcodes seem to be replaced in the search results.

However, only when I type in nonsense, like “Yo yo”, or “What day is it?”, I get search results, and they obviously contain no matches.

When I type in ANYTHING relevant, like “What’s a site inspection?”, I get the short text response I’ve created, which should only come up in relation to the site owner or the company, and there are no search results.

When I try to change the Phrase Matching Accuracy, there’s no way to apply my change, and trimming the keyword list to only “greg, mueller, inspector” doesn’t help.

So I wonder if the plugin is analysing pages correctly.

I’m only using the free/local features. No addons or external services.

Still having this problem. Is there anything I can do to get the “site inspection” page listed when I type in “What’s a site inspection?”, instead of the irrelevant short answer?

Here’s the short text, in case it matters:

Greg Mueller is the owner and chief building and pest inspector at BuildandPest.com. He is committed to providing Brisbane home buyers with high quality pre-purchase inspection reports they can rely on, at a surprisingly competitive rate. We are a Brisbane based, family owned and operated business and take great pride and joy in delivering our service to you, providing ongoing support if required. Our building inspection services are available to you throughout the Greater Brisbane, Moreton Bay and Ipswich areas. We believe a sound business is born from good service.

FYI, if I type “How to book site inspections”, I get generic search results, because “inspections” doesn’t match “inspection”, as per my other support topic, but once that problem is resolved, this will likely also trigger the short answer.

I’ve also tested “Why choose BuildandPest.com?”, which is one of my FAQs, and, again, got the short response, instead of what I would expect.

    Hi Gal,

Our dev team is working on the search. We will release a new version asap.

However, you can use Simple Text Responses to create a direct answer. Go to Simple Text Responses and a new STR with the query “How to book site inspections” and add the Response for that below. Add some keywords like book, booking, inspections, site inspections etc. This way, the chatbot will directly display the answer instead of showing links to pages.

You can add as many STRs as you want like this to answer various possible questions.

    Thank you!

I’m not sure why there are STRs and FAQs, but search results should consider FAQs, because they are clearly things people want to know.

Also, the analysis of WPBakery pages may not be the problem anymore, unless the issues I’m seeing occur on other sites.

The FAQs in the settings area is for display purpose by clicking the FAQ button. If you want them to be searchable, simply copy the same as STRs. Hope that makes sense. But I will ask the dev team see if they can make the FAQs searchable.

Many thanks for your feedback so far. If you found our effort useful, please consider leaving the plugin a great rating. It really helps and motivates us.

    Thank you!
