• Hi there,
Today I received the following error from Solid Security in the logs:

itsec-config-file-update-empty::wp-config A blank file was found when attempting to update wp-config.php. Manual configuration can be found in the advanced settings.

    However, I’ve double-checked everything:
    • My wp-config.php file is not empty — it’s complete and correctly configured.
    • The site is working perfectly with no issues.
    • I checked file permissions, and everything seems in order.
    • I ran a full scan just before and after the error, and no problems were found.
    • I also verified manually via FTP that the file is intact.

Could this be a false positive or a bug in the plugin?
Is there a reason this might happen even when the file is perfectly fine?
If it’s something known, will there be a fix or update in a future release?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

    Hi @lohanelbt,

    Glad you reached out!

That error usually indicates that This error indicates that Solid Security for some reason cannot properly write to your filesystem.

However, it looks like you’re doing the right things of double-checking related data, so there is a chance that this can be a false positive or a timing issue in how Solid Security attempts to read or modify the wp-config.php file.

Could you please check if you have the “Write to Files” option in Security Global Settings enabled/disabled?

    • If it’s enabled, please uncheck it, save the settings, and check if the error continues.
    • If it’s disabled, please check it, save the settings, and recheck the error.

If that doesn’t help, please try resetting your .htaccess file and see if the error resolves.

Let us know how it goes!
