I’ve tried four times to upgrade to 5.3 and each time met with a fatal error. I’ve restored my site in C-Panel. Stablehost has tried many times to find out what the error is then advised me that 5.3 has a bug in it. So now I have no idea if I should try to upgrade again.

WordPress has introduced many changes, before updating you must be sure to use theme or plugins compatible with WordPress 5.3.
If with the default theme twenty* e
disabled plugins don’t see error means you can’t use the theme or that plugin
