It does protect your website very well, possibly better than other plugins. As long as the inbuilt Wizard is all that is needed, then it’s Pro pricing makes it a bargain for those who manage multiple sites. Otherwise it can take a lot of reading, understanding and in some cases, a lot of doing. There are other WordPress plugins that work well as firewalls but lack some of the features of this plugin. I wish they’d take some cues from similar Joomla plugins that operate in the same way, but which do the job a lot cleaner and better and so much simpler for the user.
Because it operates primarily using htaccess, if you don’t have a plain vanilla Apache server setup, you may be custom configuring exceptions for error logs, for the htaccess file, and for various plugins. And watch what you use in external tracking links which can break your marketing campaigns.
As a creator of many websites, it’s inability to identify and properly handle multiple error logs and htaccess, makes it a hassle to work with.
And be warned – this is one very ugly plugin. Poor UX design, poor layout choices, long-winded wording. Get under the hood, and there’s a lot of long-winded reading, using custom BPS terms, to wade through.
Support is knowledgeable, but questionable (at times, argumentative), as everything becomes an exception that you need to implement, and they see 5% feedback as being 95% happy which shows just how out of touch they are with their customer base, and how little they understand about marketing. It’s a shame, because it had so much potential.

Thank you for your review. You are correct that other WordPress security plugins have some of the BPS Pro security features, but BPS Pro has more security features than any other WordPress security plugins. BPS Pro also has some security features such as AutoRestore|Quarantine Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (ARQ IDPS) that you will not find in any other WordPress security plugins. ARQ IDPS is definitely the most powerful of all of 50+ or so BPS Pro primary security features.
htaccess security is only 1 of the 50+ security features in BPS Pro. Originally about 7-8 years ago (BPS free plugin) the primary security feature in BPS was htaccess security. That changed over the years as more and more security features were added.

We agree that the UI|UX could definitely be improved upon. We have done some improvements over the years, but more UI|UX improvements should be done. Our primary focus has been keeping websites safe and secure and unhacked, which I think we have successfully done based on this fact > “BulletProof Security Pro has an amazing track record. Sorry you feel that the extensive help information that took 1000’s of hours to create, maintain and update on an ongoing basis over the years is “long-winded”. We have a philosophy here at AITpro that it is better to have too much help information vs not enough help information.
Sorry you feel that we are out of touch with our customer base. I believe most people are satisfied with our customer service, but it is of course not possible to make everyone happy. We do our best and sometimes are best is not good enough for some folks. The important thing to keep in mind is that not all websites and hosting accounts are the same. Some websites may not have a single additional setup requirement or any issues or problems or conflicts to deal with while other websites may have issues or problems or conflicts to deal with. Just kind of the nature of the beast. I think there are around 500,000+ web hosts worldwide and of course not all web hosts/servers, etc. are identical. Luckily BPS and BPS Pro work on pretty much all of the web hosts worldwide without any issues, problems or complications.

General Requirements: Extremely adept at anything/everything WordPress. Knowledgeable with various PHP and js frameworks. Willing/flexible to work on (jump in) multiple different projects at the same time. Some projects (20%) are WordPress stuff (BPS and BPS Pro) and others are Mobile Apps and other non-WordPress custom coding projects (80%). Multilingual is a huge plus (Japanese, French, Spanish and German).
