This plugin worked on the day I installed it and didn’t work the following day.

On the first day, if I clicked the Site Admin link while logged out it took me to a 404 page, which is fine.

The next day, if I used my new login link it took me to a blank page. I had to disable the plugin by renaming it via FTP. After logging in I changed the name back and reactivated it. After that the Site Admin link on the website took me to the new login URL, which doesn’t help at all.

    So, what’s the deal?

Please post the site URL so we can have a look. We never had this issue before.

I edited the sidebar menu so the admin link isn’t on there anymore.

Today I added a country blocker plugin (ip2location country blocker) because we have been getting a lot of hacking attempts. Right now I have the admin blocked for all countries except the US. I’m in the US and it’s blocking me, so that’s another problem. I posted about that as well. It’s actually ok if all countries are blocked because I can deactivate the plugin via FTP. I just really need to stop the hacking attempts.

    Thank you

It’s probably a conflict between our plugin and the IP blocking one. Try them out individually.

I did. At first I only had your plugin. I added the second one today after having the problem with yours.

I think that removing the admin link from the sidebar will essentially solve the problem because the standard admin link doesn’t work with your plugin activated, and they would have no way to guess what the new login URL is. The main problem with your plugin was that it made the admin link in the sidebar show the new URL, which defeats the purpose.

Well, we have to “tell” WordPress what the new URL is so if you use some function to print the admin URL it will show the correct URL.

But if you want to hide the login URL then obviously you wouldn’t want to put a link to it on the front page šŸ™‚ Only you should know that.

Thanks. I didn’t know that the new URL would show. Removing the link fixed the problem, and it was easy to do.
