WordPress reinstall not accessing database

    Hi,

    I wonder if anyone can help.

    I was previously using a free WordPress app with my host.

    Yesterday I experienced an upgrade error which I tried to fix and made the situation worse so I decided to reinstall WordPress manually. The install was successful and I imported my old database but the new site does not seem to access any of my old posts.

    When I was using the free application my WordPress files had to be located in a subdirectory whearas now they are installed in the root directory. I wonder if this will be causing the issue as it will affect my urls?

    Any help would be much appreciated

    Was this database from the 3.2 failed upgrade? If not, what version of WordPress does it correspond to?

    It was from before the 3.2 upgrade as I had backed the database up before I started messing about. Is this a problem with incompatibilty?

    You can’t run a 3.2 database with 3.1.x files. Can you recall what version your were running before you upgraded to 3.2? The last 3.1 version was 3.1.4 which was only released a couple of days before 3.2

    I previously had WordPress installation as free app from my host. I have since reinstalled the free app (running on 3.1.3) but am still having the same problem with it not accessing the old posts. I’m not 100% sure if this is the same version but I expect so as it was only a day ago.
    I deleted my ht access file before I reinstalled WordPress – not sure if that is a no-no?

    Deleting your .htaccess file won’t be the cause of this problem. Can you access the wp-options table in your database, find the option name db_version and tell me the option value? You might need your hosts to help with this.

    Your database is 3.2, so you need to upload all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress 3.2.
