• After Updating to WordPress 6.9.3 I cannot login to the backend. After typing my admin username and the password I only get “Upload error: Unknown error”. It only occurs with 2 installations that use Betheme as a theme. Reinstalling WordPress 6.9.4 (admin and include folders) via ftp doesn’t change anything.

  • Hi @marcelkne

I checked WordPress for “Upload error” string and there is only one sting but it is “Image upload error” and happens on step 2 for media library upload.

It might be related to a plugin or the theme itself.

Do you have a staging site or backup area on your hosting? If so, please follow the steps:

    – Go to wp-content > plugins folder, rename it to _plugins and create a new plugins folder
    – Login into the WordPress, if issue is gone, don’t access wp-admin > plugins, logout from WordPress and start moving one plugin each time from _plugins to plugins and on each round try to replicate the problem until it returns.

If the problem remains even without any plugin, try to rename the theme folder.

Let us know the result you get.
    Best Regards

Thanks for helping, the problem was the Betheme theme.

Hi @marcelkne , thanks for replying that the Be Theme was the problem. We are also experiencing this same issue on a site built with the Be Theme. It is not an option for us to change to another theme. How were you able to resolve this with the Be Theme still in use? Upgrade? Downgrade? Another solution?

    Thanks very much,

    Nicole

I was unable to update Be Theme even when it was deactivated as the theme for the site so I performed a manual update of the Be Theme and this seems to have resolved the issue on our site.

You have to manually update Betheme via ftp. Just overwrite the theme with the newest download from theme forest.
