• When I look at my webshop and click on a product I see a very long URL.
There are all kinds of strange numbers, symbols and letters behind the product url.
Other websites of my competitors do not have this.
I found this out when a customer sent me a message, who wanted to copy the link and saw a very long url.
This is not related to my Google Chrome, because on firefox, edge this is the same.
Also via mobile and another PC.

How can I get a normal neat link without that long text behind the product url?

    Hi @0108daniel,

    Thanks for reaching out!

The long URL you’re seeing is likely due to the product permalink settings. To resolve this and have a clean, neat URL, you can adjust the permalink structure by going to WordPress > Settings > Permalinks and selecting Product Permalinks.

For more details, you can check this guide: Permalinks in WooCommerce.

I get a warning that I never must change the permalinks because it has serious influence on the visabilty for search engines like Google.
Another warning that I get is to never change it on a live site.

    The permastructure now is ‘messagetype’
The Product permalinks is now custom base ‘/product/’

    Hi @0108daniel,

Thanks for the update! If your site is relatively new, changing the permalink structure might not have a significant impact on your SEO. However, if you’re concerned about it, consulting with an SEO expert could help ensure that any changes made are done properly without affecting your visibility.

Our site is not new and is there for a few years.
But I don’t want to change the structure, I want to remove the very long product url text behind the product title url.

I understand that you can not help us with this, so we will ask a SEO expert.

    Hello 0108daniel,

    Thank you for your reply.

Could you share a few URLs of your products? I want to examine them and determine if that is something caused by WooCommerce.

Also, please share your site’s System Status Report with me. You can paste it into https://pastebin.com and share the link here.

Lastly, share a screenshot of your permalink settings. You may use https://snipboard.io to upload images and share links here.

Once I have more information, I will be in a better position to assist you further.

    Best regards.
