variable pricing on variable products

Hello,
In creating an item in 2 different quantity, i.e a swatch sample and one meter of the same item. I need different price for each quantity. When i create the variable items with different pricing, a) there is no price range showing from… to
b)i get the following message in choosing an option
Sorry, this product is unavailable. Please choose a different combination

I have knowledge of how to create variable items, i have dome this correctly in previous woo commerce versions.It is not a Theme issue as the problem prevails with woo commerce them as well for me.

Any help is much appreciated
