Hello @petervandoorn,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We’re truly sorry that the update hasn’t met your expectations. We understand that the removal of certain features has been frustrating, and we’re actively working to improve the situation.
We’ve already restored features like custom scheduling, backup history, and ZIP compression based on user feedback.
We’re also exploring ways to reintroduce multiple job capabilities to the interface.
Regarding the one-click database download, while it’s not immediately available, you can still back up your database by navigating to the Settings page and using the dropdown in the backup history section. We acknowledge this isn’t the exact experience you were used to, but we are looking to make improvements here also.
If you prefer, you can roll back to version 4.1.7 while we continue our improvements. You can download it here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/backwpup/advanced/.
We appreciate your patience and support as we work to refine the experience.

Hi @petervandoorn
Just wanted to follow up as many of the missing features have now been restored.
You can now create multiple jobs again, set custom schedules, and choose ZIP format. For downloading just the database, you can create a dedicated job with only the database selected, turn off scheduling, and run it manually anytime from the job card.
Would be great if you get a chance to try the latest version. Feel free to reach out if anything still feels off. We’re here to help.
Yes, you have (slowly) reintroduced functionality that you shouldn’t have removed, but you still haven’t put back a one-click database download like it used to have. And it still remains that your UI is not great. The previous version wasn’t exactly “pretty”, but at least it worked and everything that you needed to change was there on the one screen. Sorry, but in its current incarnation you still only get 1 star (and that’s being generous… I’d give it 0 stars if I could!)
