User Profile Photo Upload Doesn’t Work

I’ve discovered the same issue as a few other people, where using the Upload User Profile Photo on the front end doesn’t work and sits in a perpetual “processing…” state. As a temporary solution we’ve rolled back to v2.8.5 and it works again.

The changelog for Ultimate Member indicates that version 2.10.0 included a fix for “File/image upload on the role-specific profile form” . Is it possible that this fix introduced unintended side effects affecting profile photo uploads?

We’ve gone through the usual disabling all plugins, change theme, upgrade/downgrade PHP, check Imagick and GD PHP extensions are enabled, check all error/debug logs, ensure admin-ajax.php is loading and many other error checks but nothing has returned results.

Have you made a custom profile template?
Look at UM Settings -> Advanced -> Override templates
and do a recheck if you have custom templates.

The profile.php template was updated in UM 2.10.0.

You have a JavaScript error by your Theme for this page.
Do you have any custom JavaScript code?

Yes we have a Splide slider on the homepage, and as there isn’t a slider on secondary pages it can’t apply the jQuery code causing this error. This error doesn’t interfere with the user profile photo upload though.

Hi devs,

Any word on this issue? We would love to get it solved so we can upgrade to the latest version. We’ve started using the paid version over the free version so we can get the other features – should I send a support ticket via the ultimate member website instead?

Try to look at your browser Ajax network responses from admin-ajax.php
in each step during your upload and the message if not successful.

Hi there,

Yes ajax responses were all working fine in our initial test.

I don’t know what’s happened now but since updating the UM plugin to the latest version 2.10.2 it seems to be working again. We can now upload member photos without any issues.

We can mark this issue as solved now – many thanks.
