• Our non-profit organization is currently using the free version of this plugin to perform scheduled backups that get written to Google Drive. Depending on your answer here, we may ask our Board of Directors to consider paying for the pro version if it will solve our problem. The issue is that our site has grown so large over time (hundreds of thousands of photos, plus other files) that the scheduled backups only complete with errors and are not restorable. Well, if a backup is not restorable, it is a waste of time and resources to even create one in the first place. Our site will only continue to grow in 2026 and beyond.

So our question is, is there an upper limit on site size before the backup file becomes unreliable? And if there is such an upper limit, is the limit greater with the paid version of the plugin? And if so, do you offer special pricing for registered non-profit organizations?

    Hi,

UpdraftPlus (free or paid) does not enforce a fixed upper limit on site size. Very large sites can be backed up, but the real limitation is the server’s resources—memory, timeout limits, processor speed, and how long your host allows PHP processes to run. When those limits are too low, backups of very large sites may pause, restart many times, or fail to complete.

Regarding pricing, we are not allowed to discuss it here. Please send us a message here.

    Best regards,
    Bryle
