UpdraftPlus no automatic backups

    Hi,

    Although UpdraftPlus is set to update automatically daily no backups are made. Manually making a backup works. Cron jobs have not been disabled in de wpconfig.

    Only found this error on Jan 7th: [07-Jan-2026 06:38:41 UTC] Cron reschedule gebeurtenis fout voor hook: updraft_backup, foutcode: could_not_set, foutmelding: De lijst met cron-gebeurtenissen kon niet worden opgeslagen., gegevens: {“schedule”:”daily”,”args”:[],”interval”:86400}

    which translates as: [07-Jan-2026 06:38:41 UTC] Cron reschedule event error for hook: updraft_backup, error code: could_not_set, error message: Could not save the list of cron events., data: {‘schedule’:‘daily’,“args”:[],‘interval’:86400}

    Hi Margriet,

    Thank you for the details.

    Before we investigate further, could you please provide the UpdraftPlus backup log from a scheduled (automatic) backup attempt? You can find this under UpdraftPlus → Existing Backups → View Log.

    Since files can’t be attached here on WordPress.org, please copy the full log and share it using Pastebin (https://pastebin.com/) or any similar online text-sharing service you prefer, then post the link here.

    Can you install the free plugin WPCrontrol, are any of your cron events showing as overdue?

    Hi,

    I only see failed WooCommerce items and this one: action_scheduler/migration_hook

    No UpdraftPlus at all in the list of Complete or Failed.

    Hi,

    Do you see an explanation mark next to any of them, doesn’t have to be UpdraftPlus, can you take a screenshot.

    Can you also try setting your schedule to manual and saving your settings then setting up the schedule and saving it again?

    Hi,

    There are no explanation marks in the log file.

    I have set the schedule to manual and made a manual backup. Have now switched it back to daily. Will check tomorrow if it is working now. I will keep you informed.
