Not great support and are unavailable on Thursdays and Fridays, it seems. I was going to pay them, but now I should sue them.

Thanks for sharing your feedback! We’d like to clarify that widgets created with the free WordPress plugin do not display any subscription status information.
The notification you’re seeing comes from a premium widget, which works with a premium plan or during the trial period. This is completely separate from the WordPress plugin itself.
