• I am trying to understand why only the admins have the ability to add categories. Unless your site is serving a specific niche, shouldn’t the freelancer be able to add a category if one does not exist? if they can, please enlighten me, or advise of a work around?

  • Hi,

There isn’t a feature like that because categories function as listing types. By creating them, the admin defines the niche for the site. As a workaround, you can create the “Other” category. As the admin, you’ll be able to see which listings fall under it and decide when to add new categories based on that.

Usually, directory and classified sites don’t allow creating categories, only tags, which are user-generated content. You might want to check out our Tags plugin, which let users add new tags if they aren’t already listed, these will then appear in the filter form.

Hope I helped with your request.
