Two progress bars, negative points and score algorithm
-
I’m currently using Quiz Maker and would like to share a few observations regarding features that I believe could be improved or added, as I found myself missing them during use.
Firstly, my quiz consists of 100 questions that must be answered sequentially, without the possibility of going back. The user has 100 minutes to complete the quiz. It would be extremely helpful to display two progress bars at the top of the screen: one showing the percentage of time elapsed, and the other indicating the percentage of questions completed. This would allow users to better gauge their pacing — for example, “20% of the time has passed, and you’ve completed 26% of the quiz.”
Secondly, in my quiz, correct answers earn points, unanswered questions yield zero, and incorrect answers result in a negative score equal to the value of a correct answer. This mechanism is designed to discourage random guessing. I believe it would be valuable to offer this scoring option as a configurable feature.
Thirdly, my quiz is divided into sections that progress in difficulty. The final score is determined by a more advanced algorithm: it reflects the highest section in which the user achieved at least 60% accuracy — but only if they also scored at least 60% in all preceding sections. I’m considering the possibility of a plugin that could transmit individual question results to a custom scoring algorithm, which would then return the final quiz result to be displayed. The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
