What do you mean by cannot remove search widget? There’s a handy X button that will let you remove the widget just by clicking on it.
Yes I tried that several times. clicking on the X button doesnt work
Pardon my ignorance, but have you tried another browser? Clearing the cache and cookies could also help.

What browser are you using exactly?
And have you made sure it is updated to the latest version? (89 is the latest). Also can you try using Edge or Chrome and seeing if it works?
If it works in Edge/Chrome, it is definitely an issue with your browser as Firefox 89 works just fine on our end.
Alright I shall try the other browsers you recommended. Firefox latest and updated yes.
I have tried this in Safari as well as Firefox. Both latest versions. I have emptied cache. It just doesn’t go. And then it starts to suddenly add more instead of deleting!! I dont know what to do, or even to remove header and rebuild it. Please help.

Have you updated to the latest Companion plugin and theme? Duplication of the search element is impossible, so there must be something interfering with your browser.
