• Hi there everyone!

Hope you are having a good time, recently I have got an issue that i couldn’t solve, no matter how much I searched for some answers for it!
I deleted my theme (because some contents didn’t want to appear and i tried to install another theme) but even though i deleted it, it is still on my server when i check my FTP in my C panel, however, one of WordPress default theme is also there that i don’t even have it installed!! Its is the 2020 on my server but i have 2022 installed on my website! I mean my server shows everything in a different way, and even though I upload a new theme there, it does not appear on my website! Help please!!

  • When you say “FTP in my C panel”, do you mean cPanel’s file manager or are you using an FTP client like FileZilla?

Hi, thanks you for your response!
I actually mean my server that i can get access from my hosting website not only by filezilla, but i even tried to get connected by filezilla and i am still seeing the same issue!
How is it even possible that i have some files in my server that are not on my website, and i have some files (themes) on my website that are not on my server!??

Can i start up my WordPress website from begging? Because i am also ok with that but i just saw mostly people are recommending a wordpress plugin to reset your website but i was thinking if i am running this issue it’s nit the best idea to fix it with a plugin, wouldn’t you say so?

Is there a way that i can start up from begging and fix everything that way?

By the way, when i started my WordPress site i register with my email on wordpress.com
But when i was told to make one account for my website (from my hosting website- to continue) i used the same email and later on I realized it is registered on WordPress.org and i even tried to use my website in my WordPress.com but it did not accept that! I know it is probably not even related to my issue and it is stupid to mention but do you think all of these problems can be related to this issue as well, or not??

I deleted my theme (because some contents didn’t want to appear and i tried to install another theme) but even though i deleted it, it is still on my server when i check my FTP in my C panel

How did you delete it? Is it from “WP Admin -> Appearance -> Themes” or are you using File Manager?

however, one of WordPress default theme is also there that i don’t even have it installed!! Its is the 2020 on my server but i have 2022 installed on my website!

It’s normal. The latest WP version installs Twenty Nineteen, Twenty Twenty, Twenty Twenty-One, and Twenty Twenty-Two by default.

The themes in /wp-content/themes/ should match the themes in wp-admin > Appearance > Theme. If not, ask your host why not.

Resetting/deleting your site’s files and database, and reinstalling WordPress seems hasty but there’s a chance it could resolve your problem.

Plugins like WP Reset will reset your database and can delete particular folders like themes, plugins, uploads, etc.

Alternatively, you can manually delete all WordPress files and your entire WordPress database.

Delete a Self-Hosted WordPress Site via cPanel

Delete a Self-Hosted WordPress Site Manually

    Optional Extra: Database Removal

Back-up your files and database before proceeding.

Regarding the email addresses you’re using for WordPress.com, WordPress.org, and your site’s administrator account, you can change the email addresses used for each via your account/profile settings.
