Text Area Character Limits
-
First – thanks for creating this wonderful plugin. I use it a lot!
My question:
When creating a “text area” field, we specify a character limit. Is there a way to display or let users know when they have reached the character limit in the text area? (as I’ve seen many forms do)Right now, after typing into the “text area” it provides no information that you are approaching the limit or exceeding the limit, and after you submit, it simply tells you that you have “exceeded the limit of XXX characters”. The user doesn’t know whether they exceeded the limit by only one character, or by many, many characters (and thus, paragraphs).
Is there a way to provide a little more information to help users type in submissions and not have to do trial and error in order to know how much they can submit? Preferably, the text area would NOT allow the user to type anymore than the field will accept. This way, users can edit their entry accordingly knowing what the character limit is.
Hope this makes sense!
