Hey Ed
Thanks for your comment.
I know how to download the latest version, even when the trunk is empty.
The issue is that I have to check every time, what’s the latest version of the plugin and to use different link. For example, if I have an app that automatically install your plugin I could use the following link:
https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/the-events-calendar.4.6.23.zip
But when you release a new version, 4.6.24 for example, I have to change that link. And I have to do that every time you release a new version, and this is not developer friendly.
If you keep the latest version of the plugin in the trunk folder, I can use the following link: https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/the-events-calendar.zip, which will always give me the latest version.
From svn docs:
The trunk is the main line of development in a SVN repository.
Don’t get me wrong, this plugin is great, but it will be really nice if I can use a single link to download the latest version every time. And to achieve that, you should keep the latest version in trunk folder, like almost every plugin in the repo.
Cheers,
Stanimir

Gotcha! I’ve made a note to the team.

Hey there! This thread has been inactive for a while so we’re going to go ahead and mark it Resolved. Please feel free to open a new thread if any other questions come up and we’d be happy to help. 🙂
Thanks
Courtney 🙂
Hey folks. Its not solved because the trunk is still empty. We are waiting for your developers to update the trunk folder 🙂
Cheers,
Stanimir
Hey @sstoqnov,
Thanks for your feedback! We are deliberately adding just the readme.txt on trunk, but we do have plans to change this in the near future to follow the subversion convention as you mentioned.
You will be notified as soon as we do this change. Let us know if you have any other questions in the meantime!
Thanks,
Patricia
