super cache and elementor

Hello,
I have installed supercache and elementor.
Most of my pages are made with elementor.
My problem is that I can’t edit the pages with elementor unless I purge the cache.
I contacted elementor but they recommended that I ask you.
Super cache is really efficient and I’d like to keep it but I don’t want to part with elementor because many pages are built with it. I can’t ask people who modify these pages to purge the entire cache before each modification.
What would you recommend?

Hello,

Going on with testing, it now works fine.

I uncheck “cache rebuild” and checked “Extra homepage checks”

I would be very happy to understand why and it will probably be useful for other users.

Hi @eztichris –

For now, you should disable caching for logged in users and set the cache timeout to 60 or 600 seconds so that pages are rebuilt quickly with the new version.

Long-term, I have created an issue for our development team to look into the underlying reason why this isn’t working. You can follow along there to monitor their investigation:

Hi @eztichris , we’ve tested this in a few different ways and weren’t able to replicate the issue, even without changing settings. We’ll go ahead and close the Github issue for now. I have the same issue..latest version of of WP and both plugins. I need to disable super cache to edit anything with elementor. Very frustrating…

elementor support indicated they may not work with suoercache. For two plugins with a million+ users each I find this astonishing. …

(rjrunner44 here)… the options mentioned at the top of this thread don’t help. Even disabling supercache doesn’t help. You must then ALSO manually click “clear cache” and then elementor will load on post edits. So, basically unusable together unless I’m missing something…

There is a GitHub thread for this issue where we were unable to reproduce the issue. One of our developers responded there with some troubleshooting suggestions:

I have tried all those suggestions, nothing works reliably. I can edit pages/posts in admin IF I keep trying to do it about 5-10 times…one will finally just work.

The only solution that works all the time is to turn off caching AND clear the entire cache right before I edit any page. so…basically unusable. Having a very hard time understanding why public facing caching and ADMIN site editing are related 🤷‍♂️
