I teach students how to built a website. We have about 125 students. They all follow the same steps. They have the same webhost. Strangely a few students (about 10 students) have an empty library when they want to choose a template. We wanted to built with the classic template and Elementor. Blocksy and beaver are all empty too. We already tried the following:
Refresh the library page
Deactivate and/or remove plugin and install/reactivate plugin Starter templates.
Deactivate all other plugins and only use plugin starter template.
We really can’t find the solution to solve this. Can you help?
Regards,
ingrid

I am having the same issue. Could this possibly be a temporary issue on their end? Looking at old forum posts suggests this has happened before and they were able to resolve it.
Interesting. Thanks for that follow up. I’m still hopeful it’s just a temporary issue. I tested their website with a friend in Arizona and neither of us are seeing the templates load on their end. Blank boxes when the site first loads, and if you click the boxes you can see the templates… but if you change to any kind of builder, it says no results found just like on my WordPress site.
More important to me is that I can’t select a template to download on my own (my students) site. I tested also on a site of an other student. This is the difference. I’ve just noticed a red dot in the menubar next to Elementor. On a working website with the same webhost, with the same plugins, the same theme(Astra), the same PHP and the same wordpress version:
And this is a screenshot off a website with the problem for about 10 of the 125 students. They see this in their library (appearance > Starter Templates > Classic > Elementor) Notice the red dot and empty library:
FOUND IT!! I’ve used the plugin WP Rollback to test earlier versions. Version 4.1.7 doesn’t have this problem! It starts with version 4.2.0. Please fix this bug in a version 4.3!!
Thank you for posting this fix! Rolling back to the previous version as you suggested worked for me as well. For others looking for 4.1.7, you can download it at the bottom of the Starter Templates WordPress Plugin page.
What about v4.2.5 we released about five days ago? Are you still facing the same issue? If you are, what if you try on a different environment, e.g. ZipWP, TasteWP, or InstaWP?
@bsfherman i’ve tried the update version 4.2.5 and at first the library is empty but when I clicked on Sync Library on the top-right corner it works. The sync function however takes some time… Not sure if every new user understands that they should sync if the library is empty…
Thanks for the update. Good to know it works for you now.
Well, the sync functionality is actually developed to be done “behind the scenes”. However, there’s a chance that it doesn’t work for some reason, hence the sync button exists.
Hi. Just found this thread. (I’ve posted re this issue in another thread @rockmorton.) I’m having the same problem. I’m new to WordPress and cannot locate the Sync Library or sync button. Where is it please?
OK. Found the sync button. But it didn’t work. I got the message “Library refreshed successfully” but I still have only 4 templates. The rest of the templates are still not loading. Any suggestions?
