    First I want to say that Nextgen Gallery does an excellent job with showing photos!

    However, I do not get the sorting of Gallery to work. Whether I choose to sort the Galleries by Name or Description in the Album. Many Galleries end up at completely wrong place . I have quite a few pictures and 100+ galleries but think the sorting should work anyway. Sorting of images works properly even with a lot of images.

    The only way I found to get them sorted correctly is to copy all the info about the Galleries including Name, Description and ID to Excel and sort them there by Description. Then copy the order of the Galleries ID and paste this next to the short code sortorder. Think there should be an easier way.

    Have googled but not found any solution.

    Oh! That’s strange.

    As a first step, could you please let us know how you are sorting the gallery images? I mean, do you do it under NextGEN Gallery → Manage Gallery → Gallery or directly into the gallery you have inserted into a page or post?

    My photos are organized in Galleries and the Galleries are organized in Albums. I sort the Galleries when I insert the Album on a page. The code for this will be:

    [ngg src = “albums” ids = “1” display = “basic_compact_album” order_by = “galdesc” order_direction = “ASC”]

    The first four galleries will be correct except for one, but then it is incorrect.

    Hi @bgl5,

    Could you please try sorting the galleries within “NextGen Gallery -> Manage Albums” using drag & drop feature then update the album and check to see if the order will change as expected?

    If I sort the Galleries manually in Manage Albums and then select sortorder None on the page where I insert the album, the order of the Galleries is correct!

    That’s wonderful news! I’m glad to hear that my colleague workaround helped 🙂

    Now, let’s check why the other sorting method isn’t working for you. Could you please share a direct link to the specific page or post that is having this issue to check what might be happening?

    When I try to sort the Galleries by Description on the page where the Album is inserted, I can see that the order is not correct there.

    So it is wrong order before the page is published.

    Problem solved!

    It turned out that a space sneaked into the beginning of some Names and Descriptions in some of the Galleries. Now the sorting works perfectly and if choosing sort according to Description, even the Nordic characters Å, Ä and Ö are sorted correctly!
