Hey Jarek,
Which version of the plugin are you using?
Correct. Descriptions have disappeared, and there is also a strange output of the “Find snippets” link, in Help menu: instead of a list of sites with snippets, my browser shows this:
\n

Yeah, SC 2.8.5.1, WP 4.7.4
This is a known error, and has been fixed in version 2.8.6, but unfortunately WordPress.org seems to be a bit slow in syncing the update properly.
Hi @bungeshea, I’ve also lost all my descriptions, and I can’t see v2.8.6 here on the Plugin page yet. Do you have any idea when it will be uploaded to WordPress.org? Perhaps you’re able to provide us with an external link to v2.8.6 to download in the meantime? I’m nervous to continue using the plugin until I get all my descriptions restored! 🙂

Hi @germankiwi,
I looked into the “snippets” table that CodeSnippets adds to the WP database, and luckily the old descriptions are still there – the problem is that you can neither see nor edit them through the current admin interface. Let’s hope 2.8.6 comes soon…
Yes, there’s nothing to worry about. The existing descriptions aren’t being touched, which is really the problem.
I’ll try a re-release of version 2.8.6 just in case something went wrong the first time. Otherwise, I’ve uploaded a ZIP of the release to GitHub, which you can download from here: https://github.com/sheabunge/code-snippets/releases/download/v2.8.6/code-snippets.2.8.6.zip
Thanks! It’s available now on WordPress.org and I’ve successfully installed it, and my descriptions are back again! 🙂
That’s really good to hear! I’m glad things are working finally.
