Dear @the5krunner,
After conducting multiple tests, we can confirm that WP Statistics is recording visits accurately without any issues. I tested both plugins using their default settings and observed that WP Statistics consistently captured and displayed my visits (as a guest user). In contrast, Jetpack did not register these visits in its reports.
Given this, it may be helpful to contact the Jetpack support team for further investigation on their end.
For your reference, WP Statistics uses a straightforward tracking method. It identifies a visitor based on their IP address, recording them as a unique visitor once per day. Any additional visits from the same user within that day are counted as views. If the same user returns on a different day, they are counted again as a new unique visitor for that day.
Please let us know if you need any further details.

thank you for your reassurances.
I don’t want to waste time on this and I’m pretty sure that Jetpack has been around longer than you guys and has more resources to hand. that said , i know it doesn’t prove they are right and you are wrong. but i just know they are going to say they are right and you are wrong .
i’ve no idea who wins!!
keep up the work with the great product
FWIW: I get specifically high views/hits on certian post which i suspect might be the subject of hacking attacks on my site. jetpack might have a way to disregard such traffic that you lack.
Hey @the5krunner,
You might find our guide on Filtering & Exceptions settings helpful, particularly the section on Robot Exclusions. You can check it out here: https://wp-statistics.com/resources/filtering-exceptions-settings/.
Let me know if you have any questions!
