Hi there @nikkers, thanks for getting in touch with your question regarding the Sign in with Google feature. That is correct in that this will not work if your site isn’t using the wp_login_form or a WooCommerce login page. You could use the one tap option on your own custom login page.
We are planning to add a Sign in with Google Gutenberg block for users to make use of which will be coming soon. You can follow this for updates via the GitHub ticket. We do also have an open issue for this with regards to a shortcode also.
I hope this helps to answer your questions but please do let me know if I can help with anything else.
That all makes sense – the linked pages seem be the work in progress. How may we be notified when the block and/or shortcode may become available?
@nikkers Once the new Sign in with Google Gutenberg block is available I will leave an update here for you. As I do’t have a time frame on the shortcode work, you can follow any updates on the specific GitHub issue for that one.
@nikkers Just to let you know that the Sign in with Google Gutenberg block is now available. Please update to the latest version of Site Kit (1.147.0) to be able to use the block.
Thanks. The block appears and recognises the google account, but does not complete the registration of a new user. This is on a form not using wp_login_form. Had thought the new block was going to function on non wp_login_form?
@nikkers Thanks for the added information. Could you please share a recording of this experience so that we understand the exact issue you’re facing. Do you see any errors when trying to register with the new Google account?
As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
