• Trying to add bbPress (using bbp style pack) to my sandbox website, which is also running ProfilePress. I use the ProfilePress shortcodes to control what menu items are shown in navigation, based on site membership.

When I land on the Forum pages, the menu shortcodes are ignored and displayed. See the screenshot examples below (first is my normal site menu, the second is on the Forums page):

    Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the quick response Robin!

I followed the instructions on the Style Pack Settings page, for advanced FSE theme support, so I am using a simple template page with your right-sidebar pattern. Then I just added a Forum from “Forums/All Forums”.

Did I miss a set up step on the bbpack setup that should be performed before the Style Pack setup?

Thanks, I don’t think you have done anything wrong.

Block themes are a very different way of doing WordPress, and I am an old guy who came to WordPress in 2010 and I’ve only done enough with blocks to get bbPress working, it is by no means perfect, and from a little learning and trial and error ๐Ÿ™‚

bbPress will be releasing a block compliant version in 2.7, and I have done some testing with this and it seems to work fine. But I’ve no idea when this will be released, I am not a bbpress author.

In the meantime you can go 2 routes that I know of:

    1. Use stylepack block settings, which as I say are imperfect but work in many cases, but not your specific one with profile plugin, I strongly suspect that is my fault!
    2. use https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-bbp-block-theme/ and set ‘Do NOT Enable bbp Style Pack theme support’ in style pack settings. You should be able to still use the pattern in style pack.

I’d suggest you try 2. and see if this fixes.

As bbpress will be fixing this, I am not keen to learn a whole bunch of stuff that I won’t need to know long term, but please do come back and let me know how you get on.

Thank you. I will have another go setting it up, and I’ll let you know how I get on. Otherwise I’ll just have to wait for the bbPress update. Many thanks for the Style Pack nonetheless, it’s pretty impressive!

Hi Robin, just an update: Using a standard WordPress page with the Enable bbP block-theme plugin, seems to work great. And then I can still use the extra blocks from the Style Pack on the page.

All seems to work at the moment.

    Thank you
