    Hi,

I wanted to back up databases via SFTP, but I think there is a problem with this backup channel.

The backup is created locally, but not sent to the remote server.

Also, I don’t understand why, for some time now, an “S3” icon has been appearing in the table of completed backups, even though I don’t use these “S3” servers…

If anyone has managed to back up via SFTP, I’d be interested to hear their advice !

    Thanks a lot.
    Best regards

Edit: I tried ftp password and ssh key+keypas. Same result.

    Hi,

Is it necessary to disable local backup in order to be able to do a remote backup ?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I took screenshot of my configuration:

    screenshot 1

    screenshot 2

Permissions for destination backup directory is 740.
Is there something I misunderstood ?

    Thanks a lot

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing this. Kindly refer to the attached image. Check the Site Health section and enter the ABSPATH value that appears on your end. Please use that path in the Backup Subdirectory. Try this and let us know if the issue persists.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, but I don’t understand the relationship between the value of ABSPATH and the path to the remote directory.

The ABSPATH path is on my web server, locally. I am trying to send the database dump to another server, to a specific directory, using SFTP.

Currently, the plugin tells me that it CAN connect to the remote server, but it does not write to that server. Are permissions set to 750 insufficient ?
It saves the database backups locally, on the web server hosting WordPress, but not on other server with SFTP.

Perhaps I have misunderstood something ?
    Thank you for your advice.

    Best regards.

I just tried with FTP and not SFTP: it works perfectly with FTP

But with SFTP, backup is not written on remote server: file is stored locally, I receive an email, all is right, but backup is not on remote server.

    Another thing quite strange:

I don’t use S3, but on the list of backup, there is a small icon with ALT text showing S3.
And database option shows: wp_db_backup_destination_s3 with value 1

    S3 is not configured.

As a matter of fact, with a SFTP backup (so, not efficient), I’ve these icons:
    Local — Email — S3 — SFTP — Email

And with a FTP backup (efficient):
    Local — FTP — Email — S3 — FTP — Email

Thanks a lots for any ideas !

    Best regards

    Hi joy0114,

Regarding the SFTP backup, we tested it on our end and it’s working correctly. We’re not sure why it’s not functioning for you, but it could be related to your server configuration. We’ll need to investigate this further.

As for the S3 icon appearing even when it’s not being used, you’re absolutely right, This is a valid bug. We’ve already fixed it, and the fix will be included in the next release.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

Okay, I’ll check with my host to see if there’s a specific reason for this issue with SFTP, when there isn’t one with FTP, and I can use SFTP on this server every day.

If I find a solution, I’ll let you know.

And many thanks for the fix with S3 icon.

    Best regards
