    Hello,

I have created some page categories as Taxonomies (using CPT UI plugin), and would like to use them to designate on which pages a snippet should appear. The Page categories I have created are appearing within HFCM form category list selection box. However, when I select them it doesn’t apply the code there. It does apply it to Post categories when I select them. I guess is that it’s looking only at Posts and Archive and not pages. Can you advise if there is a way to make this work?

Thank you for your help, and for the plugin.

    Hi @vanessaguideposts,

Header Footer Code Manager’s “Specific Categories (Archive & Posts)” filter only checks the default Posts (and any custom post types) that use the built‑in category taxonomy. Even if you register a custom “page‑category” taxonomy to the Page post type via CPT UI, HFCM never looks for taxonomies on Pages, so the snippet won’t load there.

    What you can do instead

    1. Target just a few pages
Go to Site Display → Specific Pages and select the pages manually.
    2. Keep using categories
      • Create a small custom post type (e.g. “Guides”) in CPT UI.
      • Attach your taxonomy to that CPT.
      • Move the relevant content to that CPT.
      • In HFCM choose Specific Post Types and Specific Categories.
        HFCM will respect both filters.

Feature request noted: we’ve added “taxonomy filtering for Pages” to our internal roadmap.

    Hope this clarifies things!

    Hi @99robotsteam,

Thanks for your reply, and adding this to your internal roadmap. Please could you clarify your suggested work-around 2. as we weren’t able to follow it completely.

Attaching Taxonomy to Custom Post Type: I need more information on how to attach my existing taxonomy to the newly created custom post type. Are there any particular steps or settings I should follow?

Moving Content: Could you elaborate on the process of moving my relevant content from Pages to the new custom post type? Are there any best practices or tools that can assist with this? Does this mean my pages need to become posts?

Configuring HFCM: Finally, I would appreciate more details on how to configure HFCM to respect both the custom post type and the taxonomy filters. We don’t seem to have an options for both ‘Specific Post Types and Specific Categories’ Any specific settings or examples would be greatly beneficial.

    Thank you.

    Hi @vanessaguideposts,

Let’s address each of your queries step by step.

    1. Attaching Your Existing Taxonomy to a New Custom Post Type

To associate your existing taxonomy with a newly created custom post type using the CPT UI plugin:

    1. Navigate to CPT UI → Add/Edit Taxonomies.
    2. Under the Edit Taxonomies tab, select your existing taxonomy.
    3. In the Post Types to be used with this Taxonomy section, check the box for your new custom post type (e.g., guides).
    4. Click Save Taxonomy to apply the changes.

Here is an article about it: (We Bring Beauty to WordPress)

This process ensures that your taxonomy is linked to the desired custom post type.

    2. Moving Content from Pages to the New Custom Post Type

Since HFCM doesn’t support taxonomy filtering for Pages, transferring your content to a custom post type is a viable solution.

    Manual Transfer

    • Create new entries under your custom post type and manually copy the content from your existing Pages.

    3. Configuring HFCM to Respect Both Custom Post Type and Taxonomy Filters

To ensure that your code snippets are applied only to specific custom post types:

    1. In HFCM, create or edit a snippet.
    2. Under Site Display, select Specific Post Types and choose your custom post type (e.g., guides).

Feel free to reach out if you need further clarification or assistance with any of these steps!

    Hi @99robotsteam,

Thank you for clarifying, that’s helpful. I can see this isn’t a work-around for us, as it’s not practical to copy all of pages in this category into posts. It would be simpler to use the Specific Pages selection in HFCM manager and specify every page there.

If you do develop the feature in future, to add taxonomy filtering for Pages, please let me know.

    Thank you.
