When I make a search for a post, the output is a page with one of the corresponding post entirely shown, followed by a list of posts that correspond to the search.

Instead of it, I would like to have a list of posts’ titles followed by their excerpts, and no post entirely shown.

    Is it possible?
    Thank you.

Is that always the case when you search? What I mean is if you search something else and get a different result set, is the first post displayed entirely and the rest just a list?

If that is the case, then it is likely how the theme handles the search results. That is possible to change but may require adjusting the code or in the full site editor depending on the theme. Sounds like it may be using the_content instead of the_excerpt though which is why you get the full post, but the plugin t-p linked might help you to customize what is displayed

    Thank you.
I tried to find information and I found that most of the themes come with a search results page and a Search Results template. I’m using the 2025 theme and, when I open the page tab of the site editor (Appearance>Editor>Pages) I don’t find any page with this name. But there is a Search Results template. Its structure corresponds to what i see on my screen when I make a search. Here is a screenshot.

This is the search result template.
I opened a post that I had created and is called “Empty Post”. I entered in the search bar the word “Wedding”
The result is shown in the next two screenshot that portray the upmost and the downmost part of the page where the search result is shown.
The first par of the search result
The last part of the search result, that I see when I scroll past the resulting post (that ends with the date 14/06/2025.
The list that follows the words “More Posts” is a complete list of all the post that exist in my site. Two of them (“The Wedding (Zoning)” and “Wedding 2″ contain the word of the search (2wedding”). The two others have nothing to do with it.

I get this kind of answer with every search, both using the default search of WordPress and Relevanssi. I presume that I should either modify the Search Result Template, or create a Search Research Page, or both. But I don’t know how.
Could you suggest where can I find the necessary information? Or to whom can I address this request for help?
    Thank you.
