Scan without write permissions, or maybe a setting?

Hi. First of all, I have just tried your plugin and I like it.

Unfortunately the scan requires write permissions on disk (found out during experiment and then also from https://wordpress.org/support/topic/scan-isnt-working-pantheon-hosted-site/)

For it to work at our server, for our sites, it must run without the need to write on disk, or at least not there.

As you wrote in the other linked issue you left it open to fix it. Is there any progress on this?

An alternative way (for us at least) is a setting where you can specify where to write the temporary files, like /tmp/whatever, or similar. If that would be easier to arrange.
