• Is the backup set of files a complete set of files for my website without any required WPvivid specific/dependent code?

In other words, if I took the set of files from a WPvivid backup, unzipped them and copied them to my server using FTP then imported the mysql from MPvivid backup using phpadmin, would that achieve the same result as using WPvivid to do the restore?

This is an important question because a site that has been hacked and badly damaged may not be accessible and the only solution may be to delete everything on the server then copy the backups to the clean server.

So far I am loving everything I see about this backup solution! I hope it also has this option for doing a manual restore as I’ve described! Thank you!

    Hello,

In your case, please set up a fresh WordPress installation on a clean server, then upload the backup files and restore them using WPvivid.

    Kind regards.

Thank you! That sounds like a great solution that will suffice most of the time.

BUT, for security and legal reasons some of my customers require our stored backups to be plugin-independent. In the unlikely event that WPvivid became unavailable or unusable for some reason, it would not be acceptable for saved backups to be unusable.

When I examine the files created by WPvivid, they appear to be the same as what I would get if I simply downloaded a full set of files using FTP along with an export of mysql using phpadmin. But it seems you are saying this is not the case and this set of files is NOT usable to restore a website without using WPvivid for the restore. Is that correct?

Regardless, I love WPvivid and plan to use it for most of my sites! But it sure would be nice if I could use it on all my sites! πŸ™‚

Thank you for creating and supporting such an essential WordPress plugin!

    Hello,

You can manually restore WordPress files by unzipping the WPvivid backup package. However, importing the database with phpMyAdmin may cause unexpected issues, since WPvivid automatically handles tasks like URL replacement during the database restoration process. For best results, we recommend restoring WPvivid backups through the WPvivid plugin.

    Kind regards.
