Page parent/child relationships have nothing to do with the menu. How your menu is organized does not affect URLs. Parent/child relationships do.

Why would I want a page with a parent-child relationship? To get a structure in the URL or something like that? For me it makes the url way too long and complicated

I just found out that if I ga to All pages and then quick edit, I can change the parent to no page.

You set them up that way…. why did you do that?

You’d use a parent/child relationship if you explicitly want the page relationships to be part of their URLs.

That’s the point, I never set it up that way (or at least I think I didn’t :-). I have 2 other websites where I never ran into this problem. Is there no way or setting in which worpress does that automatic?

Ok, now it’s all clear for me.
Apparently I did some things or experimenting in the past that caused it, but I have no memory of that.
Thanx for the quick answers 🙂
