removing menu structure from permalinks
-
I want to get rid of the menu structure in all of my website pages.
I cannot edit menu-part of permalink if I edit the page.If the page is a sub-item in the menu structure I get sometimes the menu structure in the URL.
SO if I click menu item Hanuman Chalisa > Marathon, it shows in the browser bar as
http://kirtan.nu/hanuman-chalisa/hanuman-chalisa-marathon/
In this case the first hanuman-chalisa comes out of the menu, hanuman-chalisa-marathon is the name of the page.
So I want to get http://kirtan.nu/hanuman-chalisa-marathon/On other menu subitems the menu structure is not there.
Eg Activiteiten > ecstatic Chant shows as
http://kirtan.nu/ecstatic-chant/
No idea where the difference comes from.Permalink setting is on Post name.
Any thoughts?
If I make a new page it is ok, I just checked.
I just found out that if I ga to All pages and then quick edit, I can change the parent to no page.
Is that the only way?It seems that the “error” occured on pages I moved to another main menu item. Could that be the cause?

Page parent/child relationships have nothing to do with the menu. How your menu is organized does not affect URLs. Parent/child relationships do.
Why would I want a page with a parent-child relationship? To get a structure in the URL or something like that? For me it makes the url way too long and complicated

You set them up that way…. why did you do that?
You’d use a parent/child relationship if you explicitly want the page relationships to be part of their URLs.
That’s the point, I never set it up that way (or at least I think I didn’t :-). I have 2 other websites where I never ran into this problem. Is there no way or setting in which worpress does that automatic?

no
Ok, now it’s all clear for me.
Apparently I did some things or experimenting in the past that caused it, but I have no memory of that.
Thanx for the quick answers 🙂-
