    Hi,
I was searching regarding my problem but the solutions I found did not help. I thought I ask others in this new topic who is more experienced.
So even though I know that removing /product-category/ from the URL is not recommended I still would like to go ahead with it. I found various solutions to achieve this and although all worked fine (“product-category” has been removed from the URL) both solutions resulted in getting 404 errors.

Firtsly I changed “produt-category” in permalinks settings to a simple (.) dot. It worked but again 404 error.
Then I modified the functions.php and that worked too but those pages still throw 404 error.
I use Porto theme but I don’t think it is theme related issue and yes I resaved the permalink settings twice or more to flush the urls. No matter how many times I resave permalink settings brings no change. I get 404 errors. What did I miss and what could possibly solve this thing?

    Cheers

    Hello aknightwhosaysni,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand that you changed “produt-category” in permalinks settings to a dot but that did not work. This could be because this method does not work for categories with existing products.

I found this blog article that shows how to do it if there are existing products.
Please note that this is a 3rd party blog and I suggest making the site back up before making any changes.

An easier solution would be to use Custom Permalinks for WooCommerce extension. Using this plugin you can easily change the Product category base.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us again if you have more questions or concerns. We are here to help 🙂

    Best regards.
