Regarding files

Hello,

How can I use javascript and stylesheets in the theme directory of WordPress.

Tried placing files in assets/js/ and assets/css/ of theme directory and giving the path of the same in my files.

But still it doesn’t seem that style and script are getting applied.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
