Redirection Loop

Hello,

I was following this tutorial from your plugin: https://redirection.me/support/redirect-regular-expressions/ and created a redirect from all pages that had /fuellen-erwachsene-2/ parent slug to /fuellen-erwachsene/ parent slug,^/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene-2/(.*) like so:

^/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene-2/(.*)
-> /ideen/fuellen-erwachsene/$1

Now, when I try to access the page /ideen/fuellen-erwachsene-2/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/ I’ve got “TOO MANY REDIRECTS” issue.

Could you please help?

@johnny5 , It’s https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene-2/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/ . When you check this in the http://www.redirect-checker.org/index.php tool, you can see the redirects. The URL should be: https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/

That URL is returning a 404 for me?

Yes, I’m not sure why it goes to 404 on the website. This page: https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene-2/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/ doesn’t exist, but this: https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/ does, but redirects back to https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene-2/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/

When I check in redirects checker both links produce “Too many redirects” for me. I also disabled the regex redirect at the moment.

I’m a little confused.

I thought you are trying to redirect https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene-2/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/ (with the 2) to https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/ (without the 2)?

However when I access https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/ (without the 2) I see it is redirecting to https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene-2/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/ (with the 2)

If you have disabled a rule that redirects from https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene-2/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/ to https://www.mein-adventskalender.de/ideen/fuellen-erwachsene/gibt-es-den-weihnachtsmann/ then you have a loop.

@johnny5 , you’re right. There was another redirect setup that caused this loop. Thanks for the help!
