I learned that such ‘referrals’ are known as “analytics spam” or “referrer spam” – search on Google or Bing for “Google Analytics spam” and you will find tons of info on the topic.
I eventually decided that trying to fix the referrer spam problem (I discovered that rank-checker.online was just one of several culprits) would take me too long to learn. If you possess technical acumen, you probably can do it yourself. I opted for a professional service from Ohow.co (Carlos Escalera), Google Analytics Cleaning and Optimization, which I must say was worth every penny. This guy provides exceptionally professional, reliable, and fast service that eliminated my referral spam. My Google Analytics reports are much more helpful now.
