Query Post

Thanks for the link, I have tried multiple different ways of doing this. The only thing that seems to be working is:

    $postbits->query('showposts=3');
    if($postbits->have_posts()) :
    while ($postbits->have_posts()) : $postbits->the_post(); 

    ?> <a href="<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>"><?php the_title(); the_time('l, F jS, Y');
    endwhile; endif;
?>
